Long Island Association Names Sea Cliff Man as Chairman

As president of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, has overseen considerable expansion in last decade.

Sea Cliff resident Kirk Kordeleski has been elected chairman of the board for the Long Island Association, the business group announced in a press release yesterday.

"Our main priority is to promote the success of business on Long Island, to grow jobs and to build economic development opportunities," Kordeleski said at the association's annual meeting last week. 

The Long Island Association is a group comprised of businesspeople, government agencies, educators, labor unions and civic groups. It's purpose is to "lead the region's development" through networking between separate factions of the area's economy, according to its website.

Kordeleski's predecessor is Brian Cullen, who chaired the association for three years.

The group's president, Kevin Law, said he expects Kordeleski "will be a terrific asset in our efforts to grow the Long Island economy."

Kordeleski has been president and CEO of Bethpage Federal Credit Union since 2000, and in that time has seen the bank's assets triple. Under his leadership, the bank's number of loans issued increased by 7.5 percent from 2010 to 2011, according to the press release.
