Page One Restaurant Rooted in Social Responsibility

Local restauranteurs dedicated to providing a quality meal as well as giving back to the community.

Whether your dining preference is seafood, lamb or anything in between, Page One Restaurant in Glen Cove has something to satisfy you and even the most diverse appetite.

The restaurant has existed for more than 41 years, but has been operating for the past 13 years under the ownership of Peter Antonopoulos and Chef Jeanine DiMenna.

The restaurant is host to numerous luncheons for community organizations. Antonopoulos and DiMenna also donate their time and service to the missions of surrounding charities. Some of the most recent charity collaborations have been for cerebral palsy, domestic violence and suicide prevention.

"I think Page One has evolved into a community-minded restaurant," DiMenna said. "We work very, very close with the community and I've always had the feeling that you have to give back to those who give and do."

DiMenna noted that she often looks for ways to use her cooking talents outside of the kitchen. "I always ask myself, 'If this is my personal gift, to be able to cook, how can I take this gift and repay society?,'"  said the Glen Cove High School alumna.

The owners, realizing that financial burden is cyclic throughout the community, are now promoting their $23.95 Prie Fixe specials to include a starter dish, an entrée, dessert and coffee or tea.

Among the staff's personal recommendations includes: the rack of lamb, grilled ahi tuna, onion crusted chicken and seared salmon with horseradish.

And dozens of people were able to sample dishes that the restaurant makes at the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce's Culinary Delights event on April 28.

DiMenna admits, however, she cannot always decide which entrée is her most favorite, because she has many, so she tends to accommodate a dining guest easier when they also cannot decide between two selections.

Some notable diners have included singers Billy Joel and Ashanti as well as numerous football and baseball players.

"I always knew that I wanted to cook, but I never knew that I would own a restaurant," said DiMenna. "It has been a great challenge, I do really enjoy it."
