Senior Day Welcomes Glen Cove's Elders

Event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Glen Cove invites residents to its sixth annual on Saturday in Village Square, where attendees can visit a host of vendors, hear music and meet local seniors and their families.

The three-hour event will feature ceremonies recognizing two honorees, a free concert by the Les Stanco Group and the 's Golden Voices Choral Group.

More than 100 seniors and their families are expected to participate, according to the city.

Forecasts of sun and temperatures in the high 70's are expected to prevent the need to move the event indoors to the Glen Cove Senior Center, the alternate location in case of rain.

All proceeds benefit the Glen Cove Sage Foundation, a non-profit group which works to enrich the lives of seniors.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi said in a statement: "As a city, we feel that it is important to recognize the vast contributions made by this population over the years. This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to some of the city’s most valuable and active participants.”
