Students Grace Schools With Winter Concerts

Glen Cove schools each hosted musical celebrations of the winter season before the holiday break.

Glen Cove children from kindergarten through grade 12 performed seasonal concerts last week, with bands, orchestras and choirs delighting their audiences with a variety of theatrics and themes.

Gribbin Elementary School music teacher Joann Criblez led students through winter tunes like "Dance Little Snowflake" and "Season of Bells." 

Criblez said students performing at a young age learn more than the music.

“It gets them used to speaking in front of people, gives them self-confidence, makes them proud and is a very unifying activity because everyone in the school participates,” she said. “It is something they all look forward to collectively.”

Glen Cove High School's television production class recorded all performances, which were streamed live and archived for later viewing on the district's website.
