Suozzi Addresses Impact at Glen Cove Hospital

New details emerge later Tuesday at press conference.

Changes are in store at Glen Cove Hospital. Mayor Ralph Suozzi is meeting with hospital officials Tuesday to discuss the impact on the Glen Cove community.

He released this statement on his Facebook page.

  1. NSLIJ at Glen Cove - Update:

    Everyone,

The word is out now that a significant change is planned for the NSLIJ facility in Glen Cove.

Word has been "bubbling" up for about 5 or 6 days now without specifics.

I have a meeting tomorrow with executives from the hospital who will be providing me full details.

My understanding from "unofficial" sources about what I am going to hear tomorrow is as follows:

    1) Emergency Room to remain open
    2) All surgeries and rehab will move to other facilities over a 9 month period
    3) No employees will be losing their jobs
    4) Family Practice will remain
    5) Ambulances will be at Glen Cove to transport patients to other facilities
    6) there will be no beds remaining at this facility

There is an article being reported in tomorrow's Newsday but I do not know the level of details or accuracy of it.

I will report more about this tomorrow as I learn the facts about whatever changes are planned.

I have also reached out to other elected officials for support for our community hospital.

    Ralph
