Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton Supports 'Complete Streets' Bill

Protests that West Shore Road Was Left Out

Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton has been pushing for better cyclist and pedestrian safety in Nassau. She was glad to see a “Complete Streets” bill moving forward in the Legislature, however she regrets the exclusion of West Shore Road in Mill Neck.

DeRiggi-Whitton has repeatedly met with cyclists, runners and local families who voiced concern about the dangers on West Shore Road. She and her staff also worked with advocacy groups like Tri-State Transportation Campaign and CLIMB to understand various options for safer roads. Part of this involved the concept of Complete Streets, which New York State and New York City have adopted.

DeRiggi-Whitton encourages concerned individuals to arrange a meeting or phone call with her on this or other issues.

Delia De Riggi-Whitton is serving her first term as Nassau County Legislator. Through redistricting, Delia will be the incumbent Legislator in a new 11th LD, which incorporates Port Washington, Roslyn, Roslyn Harbor, Sea Cliff and Glen Cove. She is getting to know this new district while serving Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Bayville, Locust Valley, Brookville, Glen Head, Greenvale and Jericho.
