Aug. 12: Weekend Edition

Happenings in the area.

1. kicks off from Port Washington Town Dock on Saturday at 9 a.m. Registration fee by Friday is $25 for adults over 20 and $5 for young adults and children. August 13 registration fee is $35.

2. The weekly Glen Cove Village Square farmers market will set up shop downtown from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. The market is hosted by the Glen Cove Downtown Business Improvement District and Long Island Green Market. NY State fresh fruit, vegetables, juices, organic bread, fish, dairy products, hand made body care soaps, grass fed beef, and pasture raised poultry will be available.

3.  hosts a free Plaza Productions performance of  on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Bring a blanket or chairs, and even a picnic dinner. Morgan Park is located on Germaine Street at the end of Landing Road in Glen Cove. In the event of rain, the show will be held at .

4.  at 1 Museum Dr, Roslyn on Sunday at 11 a.m. View sculptures of Hudson Valley landscapes and dramatic black and white photographs from Robert Hite. The Imagined Histories exhibition will be available for viewing in the museum’s Contemporary Gallery and Art Space for Children.  

5.  fundraising event kicks off at in Glen Cove on Saturday at 5 a.m. Race includes a one mile, 5K, or 10K swim. The event raises awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment.
