Bites Nearby: Hildebrandt's

This nearby diner was featured on the Food Network, and is selling the sweetest treats for Easter.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Hildebrandt's Restaurant

After having lunch at Hildebrandt’s, it was easy to see why it was featured on chef Guy Fieri’s Food Network Show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

The vintage atmosphere reeks of authenticity, as if you’ve traveled back in time. The diner’s motto states: “Since 1927, because one person tells another.”

Although it was packed with customers at the time, the service was very quick and friendly. The milkshakes are a must-have; from the flavor to the frothiness, it came pretty close to the perfect old-fashioned beverage.

Their turkey club sandwich had delicious, crispy slices of bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato, with mayonnaise on the side, as well as two small cups of coleslaw and potato salad.

Their lunch and dinner specials change daily and are listed on chalkboards that stretch across an entire wall of the restaurant.

Procrastinated purchasing the Easter candy this year? Hildebrandt’s has a very impressive assortment of homemade chocolate items for sale, including bunnies and eggs of all different shapes, sizes and flavors, like white and dark chocolate. Their bags of jelly beans appeared almost too yummy to resist.

Hildebrandt’s is also on Facebook, and can be contacted by e-mail at info@hildebrandtsrestaurant.com.
