Bites Nearby: Jamaica Breeze

In a city where Italian eateries run rampant, Jamaica Breeze brings a completely different flavor into the picture.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Jamaica Breeze

Longing for that much needed vacation? Jamaica Breeze will help you forget those long work days, and mentally transport you to the tropical shorelines of the island itself.

Their catch phrase, “We aim to please!” was more than fulfilled after trying their authentic take-out.

For a true Caribbean meal, try the jerk chicken. It’s moist, spicy and truly delicious. A full order of jerk chicken (which comes with a heap of rice and beans - your choice of two gravies - and steamed vegetables) is priced under $7, an incredible deal.

First-time customers are advised to try the savory beef or vegetable patties. Shaped like a mini calzone, these pockets are the perfect on-the-go meal.

Jamaica Breeze is conveniently located across the street from Staples. Remember to bring cash; no credit or debit accepted.

Free parking on the street or lot. Catering is available for all occasions. “Like” Jamaica Breeze at the COVE on Facebook for more information.

72 School St. 516-801-4648. Open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Prices: $10 or under for entrees.
