Bites Nearby: Nitalis Grill

Nitalis Grill proves it's not just another Glen Cove Mediterranean restaurant.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Nitalis Grill

Glen Cove is no stranger to Mediterranean fare, with places such as and doing good business daily. However, Nitalis Grill - which opened earlier this year on Glen Cove Avenue - brings even more to the table with a wide selection of Greek and Italian-infused dishes, and tantalizing desserts.

The interior of this corner restaurant is fresh, modern and clean. Their dining area is rather small, which is perfect for couples looking to grab a quick bite. Larger groups of four or more are suggested to order take-out.

After trying the Falafel appetizer, it was exciting to see Nitalis Grill serves up a recipe comparable to Andros' on Glen Street, which is authentic and some of the best ever tasted. Other Greek appetizers, such as the warm, flaky Phyllo Pies (your choice of three Feta or spinach), should not be overlooked.

Their take on fried cheese is very interesting; it’s triangle-shaped with a flaky and crunchy shell with warm, melty cheese in the middle. Cheese lovers: welcome to your newest guilty pleasure.

In terms of entrees, Nitalis Grill offers a wide selection of salads, burgers, gyros, kebabs and pita sandwiches. Bring a hefty appetite, or be prepared to stack some leftovers in the fridge, because portions are on the larger side.

The Steak N Feta salad came with large, juicy chunks of of steak with chopped romaine, tomatoes, cucumbers, crumbled Feta cheese and hard boiled egg, with Balsamic vinaigrette served on the side. The mix of flavors were surprisingly delicious. Don’t forget dessert! Try their version of Baklava; it’s flaky and packed with flavor.

Nitalis Grill is located in the CVS/7-Eleven shopping plaza on Glen Cove Ave. Local deliveries are made with a $15 minimum order. Catering and gift cards are available upon request.
