Bites Nearby: Sea Cliff Bagel Cafe

The Sea Cliff Bagel Cafe's terrific bagels make it one of the best, local breakfast destinations.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Sea Cliff Bagel Cafe

There is always a smile on the employees who work at the Sea Cliff Bagel Cafe. Their pleasant and accommodating attitudes only add to the already terrific food this restaurant has to offer.

The bagels are some of the best around. They are the perfect size - not too doughy - and come in all kinds of varieties and flavors. Try one of their gourmet cream cheeses to complement it , such as olive or garden vegetable.

Their salads are very fresh and crisp. The best part? You're able to create your own at their chopped salad bar. Homemade soups, wraps, paninis and baked goods are also among their bestsellers. They are known for their Gebhard’s crumb, butter and toffee cakes.

It was pleasant to see how clean, well-organized and inviting the Sea Cliff Bagel Cafe’s interior was, as well.

There are places to sit for those who prefer eat-in dining. Delivery, gift certificates and catering are also available. Visit their Web site for catering menus and directions (it is located directly across from North Shore High School).

478 Glen Cove Ave., Sea Cliff. 516-671-0100. Open Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prices: $5 to $20
