Glen Cove Recovers From a Foot of Snow

LIRR service restored and power back for most two days after blizzard.

The first blizzard of the winter left Glen Covewith exactly a foot of snow. The , and according to the National Weather Service, 12.0 inches of snow was measured in Glen Cove on Monday at noon. 

LIPA reported over 200 outages in the Glen Cove, Sea Cliff and Lattingtown area on Monday. As of Tuesday night, there are less than 15 reported outages. 

LIRR service on the Oyster Bay branch–which was suspended through Tuesday afternoon– has been restored on a limited basis.

City of Glen Cove employees manned the streets throughout the storm and all day Monday. 

Chief Anthony Tripp of the said that emergency personnel responded to four calls since the storm started: two trees down on wires– one on Dosoris Lane at 10 p.m. and one on Woodland  Drive at 10:30 p.m. Sunday–a carbon monoxide alarm on Sunview Drive on Sunday night, and an automatic alarm on Hollow Way at 8 a.m. Monday.
