Glen Cove Team Appearing on TV Quiz Show

Students from Glen Cove High School competing against 191 schools for Tri-State Championship; first round airs Sunday.

A team of Glen Cove High School students are competing to win $2,500 for their school in The Challenge, a contest being televised Sundays on MSG Varsity.

Nicole D’Ambrosio, Rachel Brady, Elias Blinkoff and Alexandra Franklin make up the team, with Claire Lechtenberg and Stanislaw Tokarz serving as alternates. Blinkoff, Glen Cove High School's 2013 valedictorian, is team captain.

Thomas Pye and Brendan Clements will serve as academic advisors.

The students will attempt to advance through a series of elimination rounds to win the regional title for Nassau County. The prize is $2,500 to the winning team's school. Regional finalists will advance to the Tri-State Showdown, with the chance to win $10,000 for their school and $500 for each student on the winning team.

Episodes air Sundays at 6:30 p.m. and replay through Friday at the same time each day on MSG Varsity, Channel 14 on Cablevision.

The show is in its fourth season. It is hosted by Jared Cotter, a former American Idol semi-finalist and host of MSG Varsity's Talent Show.

Teams will be tested on their knowledge of history, arts and literature, current events, math and science in front of a live studio audience.

That is one of my favorite TV shows and I am so proud of you for being selected to not only be on the team, but also, for our school to be competing. I wish you all the best of good luck, great wisdom, quick thinking, and outstanding team work. Fantastic!
