We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

  •  – Where/When:  on Thursday at 10:30 a.m.Why Go: Bring your toddlers, aged two to three, and enjoy listening to fun, interactive stories. Pricing: Free.
  • THE WIZARD OF OZ – When/Where: BroadHallow Theater, 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont on Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. Why Go: A live performance of a beloved classic, kids and parents alike will experience the magic of Oz, as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion come to life on the stage. Pricing: $10
  •  – Where/When: 3 Highland Boulevard, Glen Cove on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Why Go:An exciting class where you will learn all about the art of pottery making. Pricing: $30 per class.
  • RINGLING BROS. AND BARNUM & BAILEY CIRCUS – Where/When: Long Island’s Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Drive, Garden City on Saturday, March 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. Why Go: Get a sneak peek of the circus animals and performers as they get ready to return to Long Island. Pricing: Free With Museum admission but tickets are limited and can be obtained at the LICM box office on a first come, first serve basis.
  • – Where/When: Nassau County Museum of Art, Sunday at 12 p.m. Why Go: Enjoy kid-friendly amazing and whimsical stories. Pricing: $5, $4 (members free).
  • SID THE SCIENCE KID FAMILY DAY – When/Where: New York Hall of Science, 47-01 111 Street, Flushing on Saturday, March 5 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Why Go: Educational fun through science with Sid the Science Kid.  Pricing: Free with NYSCI admission ($8 for kids aged 2-17, $11 for adults).
  • MESSY AFTERNOONS – Where/When: Long Island’s Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Drive, Garden City. Sunday and Saturdays from 3:30-5 p.m. Why Go: Kids 18 months to four years can get messy with artistic and sensory activities that involves goop, guts, shaving cream and play-doh, and the best part: no one has to clean up! Pricing: Free with museum admission.
