Hundreds in Glen Cove Experiencing Outages

Almost 800 customers reported to be without power as of 12:45 p.m.; number below 500 as of 1 p.m.

Glen Cove customers are experiencing outages in the hundreds as wind gusts increase in strength and frequency, with Long Island Power Authority crews working to address as fast as problem spots are reported.

A map of outages on LIPA's website had the number of outages in Glen Cove at nearly 1,000 as of 11:30 a.m. Monday. One hour later that figure had been reduced to 792, and as of 1 p.m. it was at 497.

The map is updated every 15 minutes.

LIPA has 11,361 customers in Glen Cove, according to the company's website.

Nearly 400 customers in the city had lost power by 8 p.m. Sunday as winds picked up. Live wires were reported down Sunday night in Lattingtown near the intersection of Lattingtown Rd. and Meudon Dr., and on Monday morning on Mark Ct. in Glen Cove.

Surrounding villages look to be experiencing outages in lighter numbers, with less than 150 reported in all of them combined as of 1 p.m.
