West Babylon Docks Rebuilt
The Town of Babylon completed the reconstruction of the West Babylon docks at Bergen Point, producing a beautiful long, wooden area for residents to relax, fish and take in the views of the Great South Bay. The original docks were heavily damaged in 2011 by Tropical Storm Irene and again in October by Hurricane Sandy's huge storm surge. The town has been rebuilding the docks eve since.

Meetings Continue on Adelphi Construction
Garden City's Architectural Design Review Board and Planning Commission continue to hold meetings on the proposed construction of what's been dubbed the Nexus Building at Adelphi University. The university hopes to erect what Filippon describes as an L-shaped" building  to house classroom space for its new College of Nursing, along with a welcoming center and administration space.

Long Beach Food Trucks to Arrive 23
Some Long Beach restaurants will serve their cuisine on the city’s streets starting in May. The City of Long Beach announced Monday that food truck markets will be set up at two locations from May 23 to Sept. 2. The food trucks will stationed at Riverside Boulevard and Shore Road from Tuesday to Sunday and at Kennedy Plaza, the area outside of City Hall at 1 W. Chester St., on Mondays. The markets will operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on each day. The initiative, dubbed “The Shoregasboard,” is being used on a trial basis this summer in an effort to help local merchants, according to an announcement posted on the city’s website.

Benefit Ride for Boston Bomb Victims
Get your Sunday workout in, and give what you can to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and their families. B. East Fitness Studio in Amagansett is holding a benefit ride on Sunday morning to raise money for the one fund established to help the families devastated by the bombings last week. But this is no regular spin class: Riders have to come out donning Boston sports team gear.

Huntington Tulip Festival Set
The town of Huntington scheduled its annual tulip festival for May 5. The 13th annual festival will feature 20,000 tulips at Heckscher Park.

School Security Guard Credited With Saving Life
A Hewlett-Woodmere School District campus patrol member last month saved the life of a teacher at Ogden Elementary School. The district said Doreen Romano used the Heimlich Maneuver to save a teacher who was choking on food.
Bike Drive for Sandy Victims
Volunteers are working to replace bicycles lost to Hurricane Sandy. The bike drive for Sandy victims collects used adult and children’s bicycles in coordination with Project Nivneh, an organization specially created to provide Hurricane Sandy Relief to area residents.  See link for more information: http://www.nivneh.org/.
