Question of the Day: Remembering Memorial Day's Purpose

Barbecues and beach trips are great, but not what makes this holiday important. What do you have planned for this day of remembrance?

Memorial Day is more than just time off from work and the beginning of summer- it's a chance to commemorate those who have sacrificed their lives in the country's service.

Glen Cove has a number of events and services throughout the weekend offering folks the opportunity to observe the holiday together.

Know anyone who has served and lost friends? Are you a veteran whose thoughts are with the memory of a fellow soldier who fell on foreign soil?

Please share your thoughts, plans or memories of those who were lost to war in the comments section below.
