Shelter Animal of the Week: Tabby

Tabby is a special needs cat who just wants to be "one of the guys."

To visitors of the , Tabby appears to be a lovable, adorable and playful animal. There is no visible way of telling that this little fellow is a special needs cat.

Tabby has tested positive for the Leukemia virus. He shows no visible symptoms, even though he must live with this illness for the rest of his life.

Due to his condition, Tabby would require he be the only cat in the household. His disease is not contagious to people at all, and no additional effort is needed to care for him. He can be treated like any other normal house cat.

Tabby is a one year-old Domestic Short Hair with white feet, belly and chin. "All he wants to be is one of the boys," said Diane, a full-time shelter employee. Tabby is sweet and very affectionate. He will even reach out of his cage to touch the hands of onlookers!

This wonderful animal could lead a very long and healthy life as long as he finds a loving home.
