Just as apples and striped bass have their prime season, so too do potholes. They are predictable, unavoidable and a sometimes dangerous rite of passage on Long Island.
These gravelly, asphalt mini-graves are the scourge of any commute, spilling coffee and jarring your teeth at every opportunity.
Snow piles are still visible two weeks after the blizzard of 2013 slammed the region. Freezing and unfreezing of asphalt creates stress. Roads also took a beating from snow plows scraping and pounding the pavement as they cleared roadways.
The net result: roads around Glen Cove need fixing.
