VIDEO: Glen Cove Commemorates 9/11

On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, Mayor Ralph Suozzi and the City of Glen Cove held a candlelight ceremony in Morgan Park.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi and the City of Glen Cove hosted the 9/11 Tenth Anniversary Commemoration at Morgan Park Sunday, drawing hundreds to join in honoring the victims.

The city dedicated roads to the four Glen Cove residents who lost their lives by re-naming the streets they had lived on. Each of their families receieved a replica of the sign.

“There are millions of memorials, but the [dedication of the] signs is different, personal and special,” said Michele Puckett-Formolo, whose father’s name (John F. Puckett) now appears above the sign for Laurel Avenue. “My whole family and I were so honored.”

Glen Cove has a , according to Suozzi, as the ferry system provided a means of transporting medical personnel and emergency workers to Ground Zero. 

“Tonight, as we move through and beyond our veil of infinite sadness, let us rejuvenate ourselves in the love of our children and families,” he said.
