It has been brought to our attention of a charity phone scam taking place in the Glen Cove community. Several residents have received phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Glen Cove Association of Firefighters and Paramedics. The caller tries to solicit money to benefit burn victims and their families. This is not a legitimate organization. If you receive a phone call from them, do not give out any personal or credit card information. Try to gather as much information from them as you can and contact the Glen Cove Police Dept at 676-1000. The Police Dept has been notified of this scam and is investigating.
As a reminder, Glen Cove EMS and Glen Cove Fire Dept DO NOT solicit donations over the phone. The only way we solicit direct donations is through the mail. Each year EMS and the Fire Dept mail separate fundraising letters to every residence in Glen Cove.
