Long Island Maritime History:

Stories of Tragedy and Rescue

Presented by Eco-Photo Explorers

From the colonial days to modern times, the shores and offshore waters of Long Island have often been the stage for fascinating drama—tragic shipwrecks, heroic rescues and unbelievable courage.  Join us at the Glen Cove Library as Eco-Photo Explorers share the Maritime History that is Long Island, including the story of the Pelican, a fishing boat lost off Montauk in 1951, along with many other spellbinding tales.  The program will conclude with an examination of the history of the Life Saving Services here on Long Island.  This program is suitable for families; all are welcome.
