Salute to Veteran's Concert

In

tribute to our nation's veterans, the Northwinds Symphonic Band, under

the direction of Helen P. Bauer, will open its seventh concert season with a

special performance at the Wunsch Arts
Center, Glen Cove, NY on Sunday, November 24th at 3:00 PM.  The band will honor veterans past and

present, performing a variety of patriotic standards as well as new

publications that pay tribute to the rich history of our country and American

military personnel.

Northwinds is proud to be performing Inchon, by American composer Robert W.

Smith, which depicts the helicopter invasion and battle that was the turning

point of the Korean conflict.  Also
included in the program will be March of

the Women Marines, Salute to the Armed Forces
and music by John Philip

Sousa and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Other selections include a classic

arrangement of the music from Carousel,
and American Pageant, which recounts
our rich heritage in patriotic song.
Renowned soprano Stephanie Horowitz, along with
a vocal ensemble, will be featured in America:

A Musical Tribute.
This poignant arrangement was originally created for the

US Army Field Band and is being performed with special permission. 13-year-old
trombone prodigy, George Foreman will be featured in the Tommy Dorsey classic, I’m getting Sentimental Over You.

Glen
Cove resident Robert Staade will display his extensive collection of military
