Fundraiser to be Held for Seaford Brain Tumor Patient

Event to be held Jan. 20 at Don Lorenzo's in Glen Cove.

By Ed Robinson

A fundraiser will be held later this month for a Seaford mother who's been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

All of the proceeds from the Jan. 20 event at Don Lorenzo's in Glen Cove will go to Lisa Beadle and her family.

Beadle, her husband Jimmy and her daughters Amanda and Kayla have been dealing with her mother's diagnosis since June.

She was working full time as a self-employed special education teacher at the time according to Beadle's sister in-law Kelly Leggio. The family faces mounting medical bills.

"Things have gotten slightly worse," for Beadle in recent months, according to Leggio.  "They had to remove part of her tumor in October and she has lost her ability to speak."

The tumor is near a part of the brain that controls speech, but Beadle is able to understand what's said to her. She also recently finished up a round of chemotherapy.

Despite these obstacles, Beadle remains at home with her family and was able to celebrate the holiday season with loved ones.

Beadle's niece works at Don Lorenzo's and the restaurant offered to host a fundraiser, Leggio said.

"They're covering everything, which is unheard of," she said. "The food the alcohol, the staff, even the entertainment."

The event begins at 5 p.m. with a cost of $75 per adult and $50 per child. There will be a four course dinner, giveaways and raffles and live entertainment at 6 p.m.

Tickets need to be purchased by January 18th. For information call 516-314-8523 or email Kleggio@verizon.net
