Students Know Their Rights from the Start

A 20-year tradition continued at Landing Elementary School as Principal Dimitri Kryoneris presided over his first signing of the Landing “Student Bill of Rights.” Every year at the beginning of the school year, Landing students are asked to sign their name to the bill, which is comprised of four guiding principles: “Everyone has the right to learn; Everyone has the right to feel safe; Everyone has the right to be respected; and Everyone has the right to speak and be heard.”

Students were also asked to recite these principles to be sure they were aware of their rights!

In addressing third-graders– the newest members of the Landing family– Mr. Kryoneris promised that if they worked hard and kept up with their schoolwork, he would be there for their graduation from Glen Cove High School in June 2023.
