Glen Cove Teachers Donate Gifts for 'Milk and Cookies with Santa'

Glen Cove Teachers Association gives annual donation of gifts to City's Christmas event.

In true holiday spirit, the Glen Cove Teachers Association was pleased to provide Glen Cove children with a special treat.  Each year, Mayor Ralph V. Suozzi, Youth Bureau Executive Director Arlene O’Dell and Sandra Potter of the Glen Cove Youth Bureau graciously accept this kind donation from Glen Cove Teachers Association President Karen Ferguson, and these gifts are distributed at Glen Cove’s Annual Milk and Cookies with Santa.  Each participant at the event receives a special age appropriate gift, all courtesy of the faculty members in the school system.

Glen Cove Youth Bureau Director Arlene O’Dell said, “We extend our gratitude to the Glen Cove Teachers Association for their kind gesture.  Their organization plays a vital role in our event each year and we appreciate their generosity, especially during these tough economic times and we thank them for all of the time the teachers put into selecting and wrapping these gifts.  It is so satisfying to see the look on all of the children’s faces when they receive their special treat.”

Mayor Suozzi said, “This tradition truly epitomizes the genuine holiday spirit in our community and reflects the old adage, ‘It is better to give than to receive.’ I appreciate the generosity of all of the educators who contributed to this effort to bring joy to many of our children this holiday season.”
