Halloween Parades for Kids, Pets This Weekend

Children's Costume Parade is Saturday, Pet Parade is Sunday.

Glen Cove's kids and pets will take to the streets this weekend for the city's annual Children's Costume Parade and Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade.

Saturday

Registration for the children's parade lasts from 12-1 p.m. at Village Square. A "scary story hour" and refreshments will be offered at The Regency at Glen Cove at 12 p.m.

Parade participants line up at 1 p.m. at the intersection of School Street and Highland Rd. Following the procession, children are invited to trick-or-treat at any downtown stores displaying a special BID "Welcome" poster.

The Fun Bus will be in Village Square between 1 and 3 p.m. A costume contest will commence at 2 p.m., followed by a pie-eating contest at 2:30 and an apple pie bake-off at 3 p.m.

Applications for the pie-eating contest and bake-off are available at the Downtown Business Improvement District office at 18 Village Square, on its website or attached to this article.

The parade is being sponsored by Atria Glen Cove, Linchitz Medical Wellness and Starbucks Coffee.

Sunday

Registration for the Spooktacular Howl-O-Ween Pet Parade and Contest begins at 11 a.m. at the rear entrance of City Hall. The procession starts at 12 p.m. and will head down Glen Street from Pulaski Street to Village Square.

Costumes are optional, but all pets will be judged in seven categories including most unique, biggest and smallest.

Dog owners will be able to register their dogs for New York State licenses at the event.
