Glen Cove Attorney Appointed as State Court Advisor

Ann-Margaret Carrozza joins committee which advises state court system that rules on affairs of the deceased.

Glen Cove-based attorney Ann-Margaret Carrozza has been appointed to a committee of New York State's Chief Administrative Judge, according to a statement from Carrozza's office.

Carrozza is an estate planning and elder law attorney with an office at 147 Glen Street.

According to the statement from Carrozza's office, the Surrogate's Court Advisory Committee provides "front-line perspectives on issues relating to the operations of the Surrogate's Courts in New York State."

The Surrogate's Courts exist in each county to manage the affairs of people who have died.

Carrozza was a state assemblywoman from 1997 to 2010, after which she did not seek reelection. She authored "dozens of bills designed to streamline the estate planning process, protect seniors against consumer fraud and expand access to quality long-term care," her release claimed.

The committee she will serve on is involved in getting new legislation enacted and recommending changes to existing laws pertaining to decedents' affairs.
