Glen Cove Hospital Appoints New Head

Glen Cove resident has worked at the hospital for more than three decades.

Glen Cove Hospital has a new person in charge, the North Shore LIJ Health System announced Thusday.

Susan Kwiatek, who was the hospital's associate executive director of patient care services, will succeed Dennis Connors as executive director.

Connors leaves after eight years at the helm to take the position of deputy executive director at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, North Shore LIJ's flagship facility.

Connors will continue to serve as the hospital system's chief service excellence officer, sharing best practices throughout the system which have been credited with making Glen Cove Hospital a .

Susan Kwiatek first arrived at Glen Cove Hospital in 1980 as a nursing assistant. She went on to fill a number of nursing and management roles, eventually heading the Medical Unit and Rehabilitation. She was director of inpatient medical services before a 2001 promotion to chief nursing officer and associate executive director.

As executive director, Kwiatek is responsible for the "overall quality of patient care at the hospital, as well as performance improvement, service excellence, hospital policies and standards, regulatory compliance, staff recruitment and retention, and budgets," according to a press release.
