Statement from Louis Imbroto, Candidate for the 13th Assembly District
In a victory for Long Islanders, a NYS Supreme Court Justice has ruled the MTA Payroll Tax unconstitutional. If this decision is upheld, it will mean the end to a tax that has burdened local businesses and municipalities while hindering job growth in our region. The MTA Tax has cost Long Islander tax payers hundreds of millions of dollars since its enactment and has stifled our local economy in order to bail out a mismanaged New York City transit system. Today's decision will have the tangible consequence of lower taxes on homeowners, businesses and individuals and more jobs for Long Islanders. While the decision is appealed, we will continue the fight against the MTA Tax and against its sponsor, Charles Lavine.
