Why I'm Running for Assembly

Lou Imbroto is running for Assembly in the 13th District.

Long Island has a problem. For too long I've watched friends and family leave the region, driven out by the skyrocketing taxes and high cost of living that plague our surroundings.  From Glen Cove to Plainview, I've seen life-long Long Islanders forced to leave their grandchildren behind and young families who must abandon their roots to seek out jobs and affordable housing elsewhere.  I’ve seen businesses that have employed Long Islanders for generations pack up and move out of state.  Yet our elected officials fail to see how their irresponsible policies have led to this, and respond with more of the same tired tax and spend approach.

They just don't get it.  From out of control state spending and expensive mandates on our local governments, to red light cameras and the MTA Tax, our representatives are completely out of touch.  Rather than recognize the consequences of these policies on the average taxpayer, Long Islanders continue to be viewed as an infinite source of funding, and no attempt is made to rein in spending or reduce these burdens.

We deserve better.  I've decided to run for the New York State Assembly because Long Island desperately needs a change of direction.  We need leaders in touch with their districts, who realize their constituents are overburdened already and the solution to every problem is not a new tax.  We need representatives who realize that penalizing small business does not help the middle class and increasing the cost of employment is no way to create jobs.  We need a fighter, an advocate who will stand up for Long Islanders first and reduce the burdens on middle class families.  Only then can we address the real problems Long Island faces and rebound from years of reckless policies that have caused a mass migration of our youth, seniors and families to other states and regions.

As your Assemblyman, I will focus on creating jobs and cutting taxes first and not get bogged down in the distractions that throw state government off track.  I pledge to put Long Island first and to make every decision with the goal of improving the lives of the citizens of the 13th Assembly District.

I look forward to getting to know you as I make my way through the district and I hope to see you on the campaign trail.

-Lou Imbroto

I think the best course of action would be to contact any board member (their emails are listed) andRead More see what he or she has to say about it. That's one source that I would find reliable on this.
