Though most on Long Island would never know it, this region plays host to one of the most active and most frequently published writing communities in the United States, if not the world. This year alone has seen two Glen Cove residents come out with powerful books, an unprecedented feat for most communities, but in the past few years, it has occurred more than most in this city would think.
Glen Cove's own Evelyn Kandel will be reading selections from her recently-released book, Between Stillness and Motion (Local Gems Poetry Press, Sept. 2012) this Wednesday, November 14th, at Page One Restaurant, starting at 7:30 PM. When approached for comment, Local Gems Poetry Press publisher “Ishwa” said that Between Stillness and Motion's poetry could only be described as “authentic, artistic, and joyful memories.”
Evelyn is the second Glen Cove resident to release a book this year, and the second this year to release a book of poetry, the first for both (at least for this year) being Marc Rosen, the host for Evelyn's upcoming reading and book signing, who came out with Monster of Fifty-Nine Moons and Other Poems (Local Gems Poetry Press) in early February.
A long-time resident of Glen Cove, Evelyn has expressed overwhelming excitement and enthusiasm for her upcoming reading, along with finally coming out with her book.
