Spinello & Gallo DID NOT Vote to Sue GC Hospital

Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves. Seems as though we may have learned a few things from their own mouths at the Glen Cove City Council Meeting 8/27. According to the Gold Coast Gazette, City Attorney Vincent Taranto stated that the then-2010 City Council and Mayor Suozzi voted on the resolution to retain lawyers to litigate the Glen Cove Hospital in July 2010. The Council members in July 2010 were Dehlia DeRiggi-Whitton, who is the incumbent Nassau Co. Legislator, Nick DiLeo, Tony Jimenez, Mike Famiglietti, Tim Tenke, all running again for Council, Sean Dwyer and of course, Mayor Suozzi. He says he is running again on his record! Hmmmm... It is nice to know that Councilman Reggie Spinello, opposing the Mayor, and Tony Gallo, incumbent member of Council have been removed from any speculation that they were apart of this ridiculous litigation against our hospital. Please remember that on Election Day on Nov. 5th. At the meeting, Mayor Suozzi stated the hospital was the "most likely" source of contamination when a GC resident asked how the City could have sued without any direct evidence? "The Most Likely"???? Mayor, don't you mean with the "deepest pockets!?" Next, City Attorney Taranto stated the City wasn't losing any money because the law firm took the case on a contingency basis. So this means the hospital has spent hundreds and thousands of pounds of corn flakes to pay their lawyers?! Yeah, it isn't costing them anything!Rrrrright! I can't even imagine how much our largest employment agency is "Most Likely" spending to fight the City's attempt to empty their supposed "deep pockets"....which, if lucky, is likely to run about a 2% profit. Finally, the Mayor says he and the 2010 City Council members started this law action against the hospital  in the best interest and protection of the community. So Mayor, how's that working for you?? Guess you showed the hospital who's boss!!! Nothing is free in this world, Ralph!!! Don't tell me this lawsuit isn't connected to the hospital's recent decision to remove in-patient services/beds. Glen Cove residents PLEASE remember all this when you go to the polls on Nov. 5th.
