What is SaleawayNS? I got the idea from the “day” job at TVNewscheck.com. Everyone has to purchase food and gas. Why not provide a service to the local community? In this sheet, we try to provide information as to which retailer has the best deals by category. The information is supported by local merchants that pay taxes.
Each week on my blog, I will cover a different topic that I believe may help people stay ahead of the game.

This week is grocery shopping. I can’t preach it enough - buy loss leaders! They price items to get you into the store. Costco and BJ’s don’t always have the best values.
Weekly, each store has a national brand of bread, OJ, coffee, ice cream, yogurt, salted snack, diaper, detergent, bathroom tissue, toothpaste, soup, etc. on sale. In addition, Coke, Pepsi and beers fight it out for market share. They, too, get discounted. Usually store brands are generally less expensive than national brands so we don’t list these items.

Coupons are posted on line or are distributed as free standing inserts in newspapers and are timed to be distributed to coincide with weekly sale items. It is best to stock up when products are on sale and one can combine with a coupon.
With the cold weather coming in a few months, the suggestion is to buy canned soup when on sale. The soup companies will shortly run promotions with coupons. Supermarkets will have them on sale. Stock up!
