Arrest In Landscaping Equipment Heist

Sea Cliff man charged with stealing $3,000 worth of property; arrested as result of undercover buy, police say.

A 39-year-old Sea Cliff man was arrested after allegedly selling property stolen from a local landscaping company, according to Glen Cove Police.

An estimated $3,000 worth of equipment was taken from Capobianco Landscaping at 45 Sea Cliff Ave. in Glen Cove on the night of Dec. 19.

Det. Lt. John Nagle reportedly received information the next day that items matching those stolen were being sold by a Sea Cliff resident.

An undercover sting was arranged and Glen Cove Police detectives met with the buyer of the items, who agreed to sell them. Each piece of equipment was identified as property stolen from the business.

The investigation led to the arrest of the Sea Cliff man, who was charged with third-degree possession of stolen property, police said.

How the property was accessed is still being investigated.
