Car Slides Into Pole at Locust Valley Border

Elderly couple sustained non-life-threatening injuries; man taken to hospital.

Two people were injured Monday when their car struck a telephone pole on Piping Rock Rd. at the border of Glen Cove and Locust Valley.

The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. An elderly couple were the vehicle's only occupants. Both were hurt, but the woman refused medical treatment at the scene and was released.

Her husband was transported to the trauma center at Winthrop University Hospital.

Glen Cove EMS, Glen Cove Fire Department, Locust Valley Fire Department, Glen Cove Police and Brookville Police responded.

"We've been getting a lot of calls out here lately," said Glen Cove EMS Chief Matthew Venturino. He noted the area's S-turns and low visibility.
