Cement Truck Overturns in Matinecock

Diesel fuel leaks from saddle tanks; spill contained with sand.

The driver of a cement mixer was unhurt Monday after his truck overturned in Matinecock, according to the Locust Valley Fire Department.

The truck tipped and landed on its side at the intersection of Piping Rock Rd. and Underhill Rd.

The Hicksville Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit was called to respond to a diesel fuel leak from the truck's saddle tanks. The leaked fuel was contained with sand, and Locust Valley firefighters used a hand-operated pump to transfer the remaining fuel out of the tanks.
