Crash Victim Describes Injuries

School won't discuss incident that left teacher with broken leg.

The woman injured Friday in a collision in front of North Shore High School underwent surgery for serious injuries, according to her husband.

Barbara Thill, 65, of Sea Cliff was unconscious after the crash, reported Newsday. She had been traveling home from the Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center with her husband, Richard, 66.

They were four blocks from their house when their white Volkswagon was slammed head-on by a gray Lexus driven by Cruz Correa, 28, of Glen Cove.

Correa had just hit Latin teacher Christopher Whalley, who was crossing the street in a crosswalk. Whalley suffered a broken leg.

Correa was airlifted to North Shore University Hospital. Nassau County Police had no updates Monday on Correa's condition. He will be arraigned for a reckless driving charge once he is medically able.

Shelly Newman, a public relations representative for the North Shore School District, declined to comment on Whalley's status citing the criminal investigation.

I think the best course of action would be to contact any board member (their emails are listed) andRead More see what he or she has to say about it. That's one source that I would find reliable on this.
