Crime Nearby: Teen Accused of Threats

Westbury

Nassau County police arrested a 13-year-old Westbury juvenile male for making terroristic threats that occurred between Dec. 14-Dec. 15 in Westbury According to detectives, the boy used his computer to send threatening messages to two 13 year old girls that he felt were bullying him. He was arrested at his residence without incident and both parents being present. There were no injuries reported. He will be arraigned on Dec. 18 in Family Court. 

Huntington

Suffolk County police are offering a reward in connection with the arson that destroyed Sweet Hollow Hall at West Hills County Park last week. The building, which was used by Starflower Experiences, Senior Pops Orchestra of Long Island and other organizations, was destroyed early Dec. 10. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. In addition to the Crime Stoppers reward, the Suffolk County Arson Task Force is offering a second reward of up to $5,000.

Massapequa

Car thefts were reported on Dec. 5, from the parking lot of Walmart at the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. The 2009 Nissan Maxima was stolen at about 9 p.m., and on Dec. 10, a 2005 gray Mini Cooper was stolen from the parking lot of a rental car agency at 4700 Sunrise Highway, police said.

Riverhead

A Dix Hills man charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in a drunken boating collision that took the life of West Islip resident Christopher Mannino pleaded guilty Monday in Suffolk County Criminal Court in Riverhead. Brian Andreski, 27, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter in the second degree and one count of criminal tax fraud before Judge James Hudson, Suffolk County District Attorney Spokesperson Robert Clifford said.

Bay Shore

Two men are wanted for allegedly stealing merchandise from a Bay Shore department store. Police said the men stole shirts and cologne from Kohl’s, located on Sunrise Highway on September 3. Police describe the first suspect as a white male with a heavy build, who was wearing a white hat. He has black hair and a black goatee. The second suspect is described as a white male with a medium build, who was wearing a white sleeveless t-shirt. He has short brown hair.

Great Neck

A Great Neck man was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated in the death of a Jericho man early Saturday along the Long Island Expressway, according to the NYPD. Christian Ludlow, 69, was traveling east near Little Neck Parkway when he struck and killed Jordan Savvides 22, who was walking west along the road at 4:24 a.m., according to police.
