Cops: Syosset Man Discovers Intruder in Bathroom

A Syosset man awoke early Tuesday morning to use the bathroom, only to find a burglar ruffling through his wife's purse, police said.

According to cops, the 72-year-old male woke up at 3:30 a.m. to use the facilities, only to discover the male, described as either white or light-skinned Hispanic, holding his wife's pocketbook.

The suspect fled the scene via the back door with an unknown amount of money. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as 6 feet tall, 20-30 years old, and he was wearing a knit cap and dark pants.

Glen Head Woman Charged with DWI, 2 Kids in Car

State Police have charged a Glen Head woman under "Leandra's Law" after stopping her on the Southern State Parkway with two children in the car.

Troopers stopped the blue Mercedes-Benz for not having its head lights on at the Nassau Road exit of the Southern State Parkway on Friday at 9:45 p.m.

During the interview, the trooper detected an odor of alcohol on the driver, Maria Digioia, 36, of Glen Head, police said. 

Digioia failed sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with DWI; there were two children inside her vehicle, state police said. Read on

Nassau Detectives Charge Lindenhurst Man in Two Crimes

Following a two-month investigation, Nassau detectives in Woodbury's second precinct arrested a Lindenhurst man Tuesday in connection with two separate crimes committed in West islip and Wantagh. 

Robert Marlow, 23 of 189 33rd St., Lindenhurst, surrendered to detectives early Tuesday morning. He was charged with burglary and grand larceny in connection with both crimes. Learn more.
