UPDATE: Fire Damages Ford Street Home, Residents Hospitalized

The Glen Cove Fire Department and EMS responded to a fire at 16 Ford Street early Tuesday morning.

and EMS responded to a house fire shortly after 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning. 

The blaze severely damaged the 16 Ford Street home, and at least one civilian was hospitalized. 

Nassau Red Cross volunteers responded to scene with funds for food and clothing for the 21-year-old son of the homeowner, said Sam Kille, senior director of PR for the American Red Cross.

Volunteers also joined residents – a father and two young children – at Nassau University Medical Center. They family has been provided with temporary shelter at a motel and were also given funds for food and clothing upon their release from the hospital, Kille said.

The Glen Cove Fire Department was not immediately available for comment.
