A Glen Cove man was arrested Tuesday for the illegal sale of a loaded handgun in an undercover deal, according to the .
Hector Morales, 31, was arrested for allegedly accepting cash for a loaded .38 caliber revolver in a deal that took place in a car, said police. Morales did not have a license to sell or possess a handgun, police said.
The deal was orchestrated by the department's Community Policing Unit. It concluded a three-month investigation into the unlawful sale of handguns, police reported.
Upon fingerprinting Morales, police discovered he had been deported to El Salvador from New York in 2000 and is back in the country illegally.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified and a hold was placed on Morales that prevents him from being released, police said.
