Glen Cove Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Stabbing

55-year-old victim suffered multiple wounds to chest, arms, say police.

A Glen Cove man is charged with attempted murder following a stabbing Thursday morning, say Glen Cove Police.

The stabbing was reported around 7 a.m. at 188 Glen Cove Avenue. When police arrived, they found a 55-year-old man in a bedroom bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his chest and arms. He was rushed to the hospital by Glen Cove EMS.

Glen Cove Police Detective Glennon was able to quickly establish a suspect. Ashton Bellamy, 27, was arrested later that day and charged with attempted Murder, first degree robbery, third degree criminal possession of a weapon and first degree assault.

According to Detective Lieutenant Nagle the victim suffered internal bleeding from the multiple stab wounds but is expected to recover.

Bellamy was arraigned on Friday in District Court and was held without bail.
