Jury: Glen Cove Man Guilty of Murder

A jury found a Glen Cove man guilty of a 2012 murder.

After several hours of deliberation Thrursday, a jury found Edward Brown, 47, guilty in the brutal slaying of a 56-year-old Glen Cove man, authorities said.

Brown was found guilty on all counts before him – second-degree murder, fourth-degree grand larceny and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's office.  

Prosecutors said Brown gave police a statement of admission and a map to find his victim’s body after it was discovered that bloody rings belonging to the victim was sold by Brown at a pawn shop in Suffolk County on Dec. 21, 2012.  

As Patch had reported in January 2013, Brown was charged with murdering Nunzio Izzo, his friend.

Last seen visiting someone at the same address where Brown lived four days prior to selling the jewelry, the victim "suffered multiple areas of blunt force trauma, including four gaping, chopped wounds, consistent with the use of a weapon, to his head," according to the Nassau DAs office.

Brown faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison. He is due back in court July 16.
