Man Charged with Threatening Cop on Facebook

Glen Cove man seeks out officer who impounded his car after a traffic stop, cops said.

A Glen Cove man was charged with menacing after he threatened a police officer who gave him a traffic ticket on Facebook, Glen Cove Police said.

An officer impounded a car belonging to Julian Velasquez after he made a traffic stop and discovered it wasn’t covered by insurance, cops said. The stop was made Jan. 19.

On Jan. 21, Velasquez, 19, of Glen Cove, found the officer on Facebook and began sending him threatening messages, police reported. In the messages, Velasquez “bragged that the officer missed finding drugs that were in his car” during the stop and began threatening the officer, GCPD stated.
