Student Held for Making Alleged Hit List

Glen Cove Police took seventh-grader into custody after threat of violence discovered.

A Finley Middle School seventh-grade student was taken into police custody Thursday after an alleged list targeting individuals at the school was discovered, the district confirmed.

The list included the names of faculty members and students. Parents of all those named were contacted by the school's principal.

It was not immediately clear how the list was discovered.

Glen Cove Police took the student into police custody accompanied by a parent, the district said. Police were not immediately reached for comment.

A statement from the district said the student was suspended pending the outcome of a superintendent's hearing.

"We take all threats very seriously and will continue to cooperate with officials throughout the investigation," said the district.
