Sgt. John Nagle of the graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, in December.

He is the third graduate from the Department in its 93-year history, according to Chief William Whitton.

The Academy, located on the grounds of the U.S. Marine Corps base, is internationally known for its academic excellence. Sgt. Nagle maintained an A+ average during the 11-week program of advanced investigative, management and fitness training.

Less than one percent of country’s law enforcement officers are accepted, Whitton said. Sgt. Nagle, a lifelong fitness enthusiast, holds the new Academy record for pushups and “the plank.”

The two previous graduates from the City of Glen Cove Police Department are former Captain Maurice O’Brien in 1973, and Lt. Tom Fitzpatrick in 2004.
