A Patchogue man was arrested Monday for using an in-station credit card for over $26,000 in fraudulent expenses, says Suffolk County Police.
Mehmet Yaylacicegi, 55, was reportedly found to be using a card that belonged to the Regency Forest Pet Memorial Park in Middle Island over 330 times during a two-year period for purchases at the BP Gas station, also in Middle Island, where he works.
Yaylacicegi was charged with grand larceny in the third degree and five counts of identity theft in the third degree.
Police said that the memorial park became aware of the theft during an internal audit. Detectives are asking any businesses with similar in-station credit card accounts to check for discrepancies, which should be reported to the Identity Theft Unit at 631-852-6821.
