Police: Murder Suspect Had Izzo's Jewelry

Positive identification of victim awaited pending autopsy.

While police have not positively identified the body, Nunzio Izzo's jewelry was found on the Glen Cove man now charged with the missing man's murder, Nassau County detectives said Friday.

At a press conference Friday, John Azzata, commanding officer of the Nassau County Homicide Squad, said an autopsy is ongoing on the body found in the backyard of a home on Dosoris Way and has not been positively identified.

But Azzata revealed new details in the case: Jewelry belonging to Izzo was found in possession of Edward Brown, 46, who now stands accused of Izzo's murder.

Azzata said the jewelry may not have been the motive for the slaying. The men knew each other and a fight may have led to the slaying.

The body was discovered behind a home at 61 Dosoris Way, inside a container and covered with a tarp, Azzata said. The address is several hundred feet from 5 Madeline Pl., where Izzo was reportedly last seen Dec. 17.

Izzo was visiting a friend at the home before his disappearance, a family member said last week.

Azzata said homicide detectives became involved in the case after police learned that Brown was spotted with the rings belonging to Izzo. Police located Brown and discovered those rings.

The criminal complaint states Brown "did intentionally strike the victim repeatedly around the head and face."

Brown and Izzo knew each other, Azzata confirmed, and both men are well-known to the Glen Cove community.

Brown was remanded after his arraignment Friday and is next due in court on Jan. 8. He is being represented by legal aid.

I think the best course of action would be to contact any board member (their emails are listed) andRead More see what he or she has to say about it. That's one source that I would find reliable on this.
