Search for Shooter Continues as Court Date Approaches

Glen Cove man accused of driving suspect to and from scene of July 12 shooting heads to court in two weeks.

The search is still on for the person who shot a 25-year-old man in Glen Cove in July, according to the Glen Cove Police Department.

"The investigation is continuing and very much active," said a police spokesman.

Ledio Spahija of Glen Cove was shot in the neck behind a social club at 248 Glen St. after getting into an argument there on July 12. He was taken to Winthrop University Hospital in critical condition, survived and was released six days later.

Agostino Sorace, 32, of Glen Cove was arrested and accused of driving the suspect, who had left the club after the argument, back to the scene and fleeing with him after Spahija was shot. He was charged with second-degree attempted murder.

Sorace was arraigned July 13 at First District Court in Hempstead. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 19 before Nassau County Court judge Philip Grella.

Mineola attorney Thomas Pillari is representing Sorace.
